'Orchard House' Gladesville
“A Character filled Addition to the family home”
Soon to commence, this proposed Alteration and Addition to a Californian Bungalow involved the collaboration between owner and architect to develop a design that was both sensitive to their needs and to the building fabric.
At the core of the decision-making process was to create a home with good light and provide shade in the summer months. The architectural home is designed with various connections to its outdoor environment, with private open spaces located both centrally and towards the rear of the residence.
Each space is carefully designed to suit the owner’s lifestyle and provide a comfortable home for the family to enjoy the many happy moments to come.
The building fabric is an eclectic mix of materials, including face brick, terrazzo, timber, and Venetian plaster to reflect the richness in character of the existing home.
“Continuing our commitment to sensitive heritage evolution, this project joins our work at Clanwilliam, Roseville and Batemans House, Gladesville and Chesterfield House, Epping in redefining the modern Australian bungalow through sustainable masonry and light-filled extensions.”
