From our humble beginnings 20 years ago as a Hunters Hill & Gladesville architect, StudioJLA now specialises in both Architecture and Interiors all over Sydney.

We enjoy working alongside our clients to develop a shared vision and embrace the challenges in bringing your dreams into reality.

As the Founder and Director of Studio JLA, Justin has over 20 years of experience in domestic and commercial architecture. Throughout his career, he has worked for some of Sydney’s most prominent and leading Architects; including Luigi Rosselli Architects and Turner & Associates, where he was privileged enough to work on some of Sydney’s most distinctive and prestigious properties.

Justin is responsible for the creative direction and oversees each project to ensure our clients inspirations and needs are well considered.

As the design director of StudioJLA, he is responsible for the creative vision and ensures each project achieves its design outcome in collaboration with his clients.

At studioJLA consists of a small team dedicated Architects and Interior Designers & Project Managers to provide a personalised experience of the design and building process. We provide over 30 years experience and skills to bring our owner’s dream project into reality.

Our project experience has expanded throughout the Sydney Metropolitan Area. From the North-Shore, Northern Beaches, Southern Highlands and to the Blue Mountain ranges.

Our expertise in management and assessing of local planning controls has led to a concise approach to addressing both planning and design considerations for all our projects throughout Sydney.

Q&A with Justin Loe from studioJLA with Phoenix Tapware

How did you get started in Architecture?

I always found myself immersed in art in my younger years, which led me to be more design-oriented when considering my studies. I studied & worked throughout my Architecture degree whilst gaining experience from several respected architects. Under the guidance of mentors like Luigi Rosseli & Nick Turner, I like to believe I established a good foundation for design.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My typical day is usually frantic as I like to be involved in all the ongoing projects, meaning that I spend a lot of time collaborating and discussing with my team about different architecture, interior details, planning and issues, plus catching up with clients.

What are your favourite types of projects to work on?

I enjoy all size projects in residential architecture. I get a sense of joy and satisfaction from smaller alterations and additions to our larger waterfront dwellings. I like to think that since no project is the same; being able to express my passion for design as well as challenge my creative boundaries is what makes any project great.

What do you find to be most rewarding about being an architect?

I think that the process of developing an idea for a particular project, and then seeing it come into fruition as a space that is well designed, is a rewarding experience. I feel extremely rewarded when our clients appreciate the layers of ideas as well as the challenges and constraints that make up the project.

What currently inspires you and your work?

I am interested in the natural environment, but more specifically creating beautiful spaces that not only respect their contextual surroundings but inspire living.
