Justin’s architectural designs are aesthetic and practical, taking into account the location and natural lighting, successfully blending our home’s period features with a modern light filled extension. The teams he works with are helpful and professional. The builder (Erik) and his team were excellent and executed our vision for our home very well. As with any home renovation, the process can get complicated and unexpected things will occur from time to time. Dealing with the council, suppliers, tradespeople and neighbours also have their challenges. “Justin from Studio JLA designed our new home in the Hills Shire and managed the entire construction process and we are really pleased with the results. Our block is on a slope with an unconventional shape but Justin utilised his artistic flare to come up with a design that is both aesthetically pleasing and practical for day-to-day living. The open plan design on the ground floor allows plenty of natural night into the living/dining area, as well as good ventilation in the dinner heat. The high ceiling on the second floor and full height windows offer fantastic views from all the rooms including the Master bedroom. The floor plan for the alfresco and spa area is cleverly designed to accommodate large group of friends or family for social gathering. We love the landscaping as it is simplistic yet effective in lifting the overall appearance of the front porch as well as backyard area. Justin and his team are extremely dedicated and professional during the entire project – we would highly recommend them to anyone who is planning to a build a unique and practical home to live in.“

“I was originally referred to Justin (StudioJLA) from a friend and was immediately impressed during our first meeting by his previous portfolio and his creativity and detail. He was frank with his thoughts, expectations, and was willing to work within our budget. The way he described both his working style and his design style were spot on to what we got so there weren’t a lot of surprises there. We hired Justin to do a half tear down and rebuild of our 100 year old worker’s cottage in Balmain and we also ended up gutting most of the house. We had studioJLA not only design the place, but also project manage it through the tender, construction documentation and build. StudioJLA did a fantastic job choosing strong builders to tender and also had to deal with a section 96 to modify our DA, what impressed me was Justin’s continuous attention and thinking he put to our project. Every week during our site meetings, as the shape of the house unfolded, Justin would have great ideas how we could tweak or change certain pieces to improve on the design. He would also call me when he was at home shows or shops where he thought I may find something interesting or want to include in the house. I’d highly recommend his team, we are certain he created value from our renovation and most important, have been told by the bank that are increase in valuation of our home is higher than the amount we spent.”
